Go to View > Tabs > Properties or press ALT+P to show the Properties tab if it is hidden. To change the appearance of a text box and its text, select it and click the Properties tab. Any formatting you change in the Properties tab will only affect the selected text. To select particular words in a text box, click the box to make it active, then click and drag over the desired text. Once it has been selected, changing any of the font formatting options will apply to all text within the box. The entire contents of a text box can be selected by clicking the text box. Select the tool and change the desired Properties before placing the markup.

Select an existing example with the desired settings and click Set as Default on its Properties tab.

There are two ways to change the default settings of a tool:

The default setting for this tool is red text with no fill color. Appearance of the text is configurable, including settings for the font as well as the box in which the text is formatted.
